BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's soccer team returns a boatload of talent as they begin their campaign at home on Wednesday against Babson.
Head Coach: Brianne Weaver
2017 Recap (9-6-1): Bowdoin was 6-2-1 entering the second week of October, but lost a trio of 1-0 NESCAC decisions in the span of 17 days to slip down the conference standings. As a result, the Polar Bears finished in eighth in the league and were saddled with Williams, the eventual NCAA Division III Champion, who ended Bowdoin's season in the NESCAC Quarterfinals.
2018 Preview: Bowdoin brings back a boatload of talent to the 2018 roster, including ten of their 12 players who scored goals last fall. Junior Morgen Gallagher led the team with 13 points (four goals, five assists) in 2017 and senior Julia Patterson tied Gallagher for the team lead with five assists, upping her career total to 12 goals and 12 assists through 51 career games. Senior Emily Pawlak and junior Emma Beane each had three goals last season. Defensively, junior Sophia Lemmer was one of four Polar Bears to start all sixteen games last season while her classmate goaltender Sabrina Albanese recorded a 0.31 GAA in 285 minutes of play in goal.
2018 Schedule: By the nature of playing in the NESCAC, Bowdoin boasts one of the most competitive schedules in Division III and will open with a non-conference match at home against Babson on Wednesday, September 5. The Polar Bears will play Amherst (Sep. 8) and Bates (Sep. 11) in consecutive home league games early in the year. The final stretch of the season includes back-to-back home games to close out the regular season against Connecticut College (Oct. 20) and Tufts (Oct. 23).
