BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team will head to Geneva, N.Y. for the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday, May 12.
The Polar Bears (9-7), ranked 14th in the latest IWLCA Division III poll, will battle the 13th-ranked Herons (17-2) at 1:00 p.m. The winner advances to a regional next weekend at a site to-be-determined.
Bowdoin Notes: The Bowdoin women's lacrosse team is making its eighth appearance all-time in the NCAA Division III Tournament after earning an at-large bid to the championship…Bowdoin unquestionably had one of the most difficult schedules in the nation this year, as ten of their 16 opponents were ranked this season…four members of the program received All-NESCAC recognition last week, including sophomores Eliza Denious and Katie Miller, who were named First Team All-Conference. Juniors Kara Finnerty and Caroline Maxwell were tabbed as Second Team selections…Miller surpassed the 100 career goal mark earlier this season, the fastest of any player in school history, and led the league with 55 goals this year…Bowdoin will be facing William Smith for the fifth time in school history. Bowdoin owns a 3-1 record all-time against the Herons, including a 7-6 victory in their most recent meeting in 2017…Bowdoin is 10-7 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, going as far as the NCAA title match in 2011 where they ended as the Division III runners-up…the winningest head coach in the history of the program, Liz Grote is in her 17th season at Bowdoin and owns a 193-101 record all-time at the helm of the team.
