BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team has placed four members on the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Conference Teams announced on Thursday.
Sophomores Eliza Denious (Wilton, Conn.) and Katie Miller (Rye, N.Y.) were named First Team All-NESCAC while juniors Kara Finnerty (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Caroline Maxwell (Boxborough, Mass.) were recognized as Second Team selections.
Miller and Denious ranked 1-2 among the Polar Bears' leading scorers and helped Bowdoin qualify for the NESCAC Championship as the fifth seed. Miller has scored a league-high 55 goals and finished the year with 64 points and 44 draw controls while becoming the fastest player in school history to reach 100 career goals. Denious added 59 points, currently ranking fourth in the league, on 46 goals and 13 assists while causing 20 turnovers.
Finnerty finished fourth on the team in scoring this season with 43 points on 18 goals and 25 assists, which rank second in the NESCAC this spring. Her 78 draw controls also ranked third in the conference. Through three seasons, she has 67 goals and 53 assists while also collecting 181 draws. A defensive stalwart, Maxwell led Bowdoin and is ranked among the top ten in the conference with 25 caused turnovers this season while also collecting 29 ground balls. Her 51 career caused turnovers are fifth all-time at Bowdoin.
The Polar Bears fell to Amherst in the NESCAC Quarterfinals last weekend and are awaiting word on a possible at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament when bids are announced at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
