Six From Women's Lacrosse Honored in IWLCA All-Region Awards

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Six members of the Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team have been honored in All-Region honors announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association on Thursday.

The Polar Bears, who will face TCNJ on Saturday in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, earned five First Team Pilgrim Region selections and one second team choice.

Senior goaltender Kayli Weiss (Longmont, Colo.), senior attack Hannah Hirschfeld (Concord, N.H.) and senior defender Grace DeWald (Duxbury, Mass.) were first-team choices. Sophomore midfielder Kara Finnerty (Hopkinton, Mass.) and first-year midfielder Eliza Denious (Wilton, Conn.) were also first team selections for the Polar Bears. First-year Katie Miller (Rye, N.H.) was recognized as a Second Team All-Region selection.

Hirschfeld, Finnerty, Denious and Miller helped lead a potent Bowdoin offense this season, ranking as the top four scorers on the team. Hirschfeld and Miller are tied with the team lead in points (61) while Denious owns 41 goals with eight assists and Finnerty has 20 goals and 14 helpers.

Defensively, Weiss and DeWald helped anchor a Bowdoin defense that allowed 9.74 goals per game this spring. Weiss has made 154 saves in 990 minutes of action while DeWald leads the squad with 20 caused turnovers.
