Polar Bears Celebrate National Ranking With Rout of USM

PORTLAND, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team dominated from the opening draw in a 21-6 win over the University of Southern Maine in a game played at Fitzpatrick Stadium on Wednesday night. The 20th-ranked Polar Bears have won three-straight games and improve to 4-3 this season with the victory.

A trio of Polar Bears posted hat tricks, as Elizabeth Clegg, Caroline McNamara and Chelsea Albright all found the back of the cage three times. Katie Herter had two goals and an assist for Bowdoin while Katie Stewart and Carolyn Gorajek also had a pair of tallies. Mary Vaughan led the Huskies with three goals.

Bowdoin led 12-1 at the break and coasted in the second half. Tara Connolly played the first half and was not credited with save before giving way to Alexandra Brown (two saves) in the second period.

The Polar Bears improve to 12-0 all-time against the Huskies and have averaged 21 goals/game against Southern Maine over the last three years.
