BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin junior Maddie Hasson (South Portland, Maine) continued to reel in weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon as she was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week.
Hasson, a 5-11 junior forward, helped lead top-ranked Bowdoin (12-0) to a pair of conference victories last week. On Friday in a 65-49 win over Bates, she posted a double-double of 25 points (10-of-14 FG, 5-of-7 FT) and 10 rebounds while also adding two steals and a block. Then, in the Polar Bears' 82-63 win against then-No. 4 Tufts, Hasson scored 21 points (9-of-11 FG, 3-of-4 FT), grabbed seven rebounds, recorded three steals, and registered a blocked shot. For the week, Hasson averaged 23.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.5 spg, and 1.0 bpg. She shot 76 percent (19-of-25) from the field and 72.7 percent (8-of-11) from the line.
For her efforts, Hasson was also named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), New England Women's Basketball Association and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Players of the Week.
Bowdoin returns to action Tuesday night as they head to Bangor to face Husson University at 7:00 p.m.
