DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Twelve different Polar Bears scored as the Bowdoin College women's basketball team overwhelmed Rivier 82-63 on the opening day of the Land of Magic Classic Saturday in Florida.

The 19th-ranked Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 10-0 and will close out their trip to the Sunshine State with a game against Gordon on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Rivier falls to 5-2 on the season with the loss.

Four Bowdoin players saw double-figures as the Polar Bears jumped to an early double-digit lead and never looked back. Sara Binkhorst led all players with 20 points, including 12-13 from the free-throw line. She also added eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win. Shannon Brady, who has scored at least 10 points in every game this season, scored 14 for the Polar Bears while Megan Phelps and Selena Lorrey scored 11 apiece for Bowdoin. Jaclyn Penniman paced the Raiders with 18 points in the loss.

After Rivier took an early 3-0 lead on a three-pointer from Penniman, Bowdoin stormed back with a 19-2 run that would give them a lead they would never relinquish. Marle Curle and Phelps nailed three-pointers in the run as Bowdoin connected on 5-8 from long-distance to take a 45-31 lead at halftime. Rivier got as close as five points, 53-48, in the second half, but Bowdoin used a late 13-2 run to put the game out of reach, extending their lead to 19 points on a Maddy Fulton lay-in with 3:41 to go.

Bowdoin held a 47-30 edge on the glass and took advantage of 19 Rivier turnovers to score 28 points. The Polar Bears connected on 43.1% of their shots for the game, including 8-12 (66.7%) from three-point range. The Raiders hit just 34.5% from the field and went 6-19 (31.6%) from long range.
