Henrikson Scores 28 as Polar Bears Erupt in Second Half to Beat Emerson

BOSTON, Mass. - Jill Henrikson scored a team-high 28 points as the Bowdoin women's basketball team dominated the second half of an 83-59 win over Emerson College on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears end their first semester with a record of 6-2 and will next play at the Posada Royale Holiday Classic on December 30-31 at Cal-Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California.

Henrikson connected on 8-11 from the field, including 4-6 from long-range and 8-9 from the charity stripe to notch 28 points while adding seven rebounds and four assists. Amy Hackett pitched in 13 points while Kaitlin Donahoe had 10 points, six assists and five steals. Emerson's Olivia DiNucci led all players with 31 points, including seven three-pointers in the loss.

Bowdoin used a 7-2 run late in the opening period to break open a tie game and carry a 31-26 edge into intermission. Emerson was able to stay within shouting distance early in the second period, closing to within 50-42 on a pair of DiNucci free throws with 12:22 to go.

The Polar Bears answered with a decisive 15-3 run over the next five minutes, sparked by three-pointers from Henrikson and Ellery Gould and capped on a hoop-and-harm converted by Henrikson to give the visitors a 20-point lead, 65-45 with 7:55 to go.
