Bowdoin Returns To Win Column With Victory at Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. - Kaitlin Donahoe scored a game-high 17 points as the Bowdoin College women's basketball team pulled away from Trinity in the second half of a 62-51 win on Friday evening. The Polar Bears snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 15-3 (2-2 NESCAC) this season. The Bantams fall to 12-6 (2-2 NESCAC) with the loss.

Donahoe knocked down 8-10 free throws and hit 4-5 field goals for the game. Jill Henrikson and Katie Bergeron added 10 apiece for the Polar Bears. Trinity was led by 13 from Kaitlin Ciarleglio, 11 from Kristen Fahey and 10 from Rebecca Cohn.

Seven first-half points from Bergeron gave the Polar Bears a slim 29-26 lead at intermission. The teams traded the lead twice and saw four tie scores until midway through the second period. Donahoe knocked down a three-pointer with nine minutes remaining to give Bowdoin a 43-42 lead that they would never relinquish. Alexa Barry scored six points and Donahoe added five in a decisive 11-0 run later in the half as the Polar Bears extended their lead to 58-45 with less than two minutes to play.

Bowdoin shot 52.6% in the second half and knocked down 24-33 free throws to seal the win. The Polar Bears will travel to play at Amherst, ranked second in the latest D3Hoops.com poll, on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
