Balanced Attack Leads Bowdoin to Victory Over Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. - Five players reached double figures as the Bowdoin College women's basketball team earned an 80-65 non-conference victory at Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon. The 18th-ranked Polar Bears have won 11 straight games for the first time since 2007 and stand at 11-1 this season. The Saints fall to 4-6 overall this year.

Colleen Sweeney led Bowdoin with 14 points and nine rebounds while Katie Bergeron tallied 12 points and six assists. Amy Hackett (11), Alexa Barry (10) and Nicole Coombes (10, nine rebounds) also saw double-digits for the Polar Bears.

The teams combined for 24 first-half turnovers as Bowdoin carried a 34-26 lead into halftime. After the break, Bowdoin caught fire, connecting on 50% of their shots (15-30) including four three-pointers to slowly pull away for the win. The Polar Bears held a 42-34 edge on the glass and hit 21 of 25 attempts from the free throw line.

Bowdoin will return to action on January 11 at Bates.
