BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College softball team will play in the NESCAC Tournament at Tufts University, opening against Amherst in the quarterfinals on Saturday at noon.

Bowdoin (26-10, 8-4 NESCAC) earned the No. 2 seed in the East with a series sweep of Bates to end the regular season. The Polar Bears have qualified for the NESCAC Championship for the seventh time in eight years and third straight season. Bowdoin is also the No. 2 seed in the East for the sixth time in eight years. The Polar Bears enter the championship with a 13-game win streak and are hitting .314 while slugging .471. Bowdoin has hit 20 home runs this season, which ranks second in the league. The Polar Bears' pitching staff has a 2.64 ERA and the second most strikeouts in the conference (193).
Bowdoin will face Amherst (19-10, 6-6 NESCAC), the No. 3 seed in the West Division, in the second game on Saturday. The Mammoths swept the series versus Middlebury to close the regular season and grab the No. 3 seed. Amherst is making its fourth consecutive appearance and eighth overall in the tournament. The Mammoths are hitting .308 and lead the NESCAC in stolen bases with 92. The Amherst pitchers have combined for a 2.64 ERA while allowing the fewest hits among NESCAC teams this season (175). The NESCAC postseason series between Bowdoin and Amherst is knotted up at 3-3. The two teams last met in Game 5 of the 2018 championship with the Polar Bears earning a 2-1 win to even the series.
