2017 Recap (28-10): The Polar Bears hosted the NESCAC Championship for the first time in program history after earning the top seed in the NESCAC East with a 9-3 conference mark. The post-season appearance was Bowdoin's fourth in five years. The team ranked second in the league in hitting with a .335 average and the lowest ERA in the conference (2.17). Senior Marisa O'Toole led the NESCAC in hitting (.447) and RBIs (37). Senior Emily Griffin recorded 12 wins in 17 appearances with 80 strikeouts and 99.1 innings on the rubber. Allison Rutz posted a breakout first season with a 1.49 ERA (third in the league), while recording seven wins. Rutz was second on the team with a .385 batting average and 23 RBIs. Bowdoin dropped its playoff opener to Amherst (9-0), but stayed alive in the tournament with a 9-3 win over Trinity. The Polar Bears relinquished a late lead to Amherst (3-1), being eliminated from the tournament.

2018 Preview: The Polar Bears graduated All-NESCAC and All-Region shortstop Marisa O'Toole as well as All-NESCAC pitcher Emily Griffin. Bowdoin returns Allison Rutz and Caroline Rice to the lineup, both Second Team selections last year.

Bowdoin looks to replace Griffin in the circle with several returning and new pitchers in the rotation, welcoming Ruby Siltanen to the 2018 roster. Ali Miller led the team in 2017 with 135 at bats and will continue to provide a versatile option for the Polar Bears. Rice, Rutz, and Claire McCarthy represent returning power in the middle of the lineup. Bowdoin will look to replace O'Toole at shortstop as well as in the lineup.

The Polar Bears play 16 games in Florida over spring break before returning to New England. Bowdoin opens NESCAC play at Tufts (Mar. 30-31) and opens at home against Colby on April 7. Pickard Field will see nine straight home games between April 11-20, with Bowdoin playing USM, Trinity, UMF, Saint Joseph's, and Bates.
