Coach Pizzo's Report - October 28

The Polar Bears competed in our Fall Championships this past weekend at the Schell and Urn Trophies hosted at MIT and Harvard.  Conditions were light on Saturday which limited racing at both events but Sunday conditions were very windy and wet.

At the Urn at Harvard, twelve races were completed in each division.  The results were a bit up and down all weekend but the Polar Bears had a solid Sunday, finishing 8th of the 16 teams competing. Kelsey Slack and Sophia Schaefer competed in A division with Teagan Cunningham, Emily Gonzalez, Ellie Maus, and Hannah Konkel competed in B division.  Meghan Gonzalez and Hattie Slayton were reserves for the event.

Just down the river at the Schell Trophy, thirteen races were completed in each division.  The Polar Bears had another solid event and came on strong when the breeze came up and finished 8th overall, losing the tiebreaker for 7th.  Christian Filter, Julia Adams, and Emily Gonzalez sailed A division with Matt Safford, Marie Bergsund, John Seider competing in B-division.  Per Black, Gigi Diserio, and Chris Lukens were reserves.

This upcoming weekend is our final competition of the fall season with the Polar Bears competing at the Match Race New England Championship hosted by Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA.
