BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College sailing team capped their week-long competition at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association national championship with a 14th-place finish at the Gill Coed National Championship last weekend.
The Polar Bears, who qualified for all three national championships for the first time in program history this spring, advanced to the finals with an eighth-place showing in the semifinals. As a result, the Polar Bears were lauded with a pair of All-Americans, senior skipper Matt Kaplan (Larchmont, N.Y.) and senior crew Louisa Lindgren (New York, N.Y.).
Bowdoin's top performance of the week came in a ninth-place showing at the Team Race National Championship. It was the program's first-ever appearance at the Team Race Nationals. That followed an 18th-place finish at Women's Nationals earlier in the week.
Competing for Bowdoin at women's nationals were Claire Havig, Kelsey Slack, Ellie Maus, Teagan Cunningham, Hannah Konkel, Emily Gonzalez, Izzy Austin-Green, Caitlin Tardio and Alissa Chen. At Team Race Nationals, Bowdoin's roster was Matt Kaplan, Christian Filter, Matt Safford, Alden Grimes, Louisa Lindgren, Marie Bergsund, Emily Gonzalez, Julia Adams, Gigi Diserio, John Seider, Elijah Berger and Eric Hall. The Polar Bears racing at Coed Nationals were Matt Kaplan, Christian Filter, Matt Safford, Alden Grimes, Louisa Lindgren, Marie Bergsund, Emily Gonzalez, Julia Adams, Gigi Diserio, John Seider and Elijah Berger.
