Coach Pizzo's Report - April 22

The Polar Bears competed in three regattas this weekend including the Morris Trophy at BU, the Admirals Cup at Kings Point, and the Women's New England Championship for the Jerry Reed Trophy at MIT.

Conditions were windy everywhere on Saturday.  Down at Kings Point, racing was initially postponed because conditions were too windy.  Sixteen races were completed in each division.  The Polar Bears were working on starting and boatspeed and finished seventh of the 18 team competing.  Matt Kaplan, Louisa Lindgren, John Seider, Elijah Berger, Alden Grimes, and Gigi Diserio competed for the Polar Bears.

Down at the Morris Trophy at BU, nine races were completed in each division in a broad range of conditions.  The Polar Bears finished sixth of thirteen teams competing.  Per Black, Eliza Jevon, Emmett Ulian, Preston Anderson, and Kevin Elk competed for the Polar Bears.

The Polar Bears competed at the Reed Trophy which serves as the Nationals Women's Fleet Race qualifier.  Nearly all the top teams in the country compete in NEISA so the event was very competitive.  The Polar Bears struggled a bit at times but forth a huge team effort down the stretch and finished tenth overall to qualify for the Women's National Championship. Claire Havig, Hannah Konkel, Alissa Chen, Ellie Maus, Emily Gonzalez, Teagan Cunningham, Kelsey Slack, Caitlin Tardio, and Isabelle Austin-Green competed for the Polar Bears.

This upcoming weekend, the Polar Bears are hosting the Coed Dinghy Champs for the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl.
