Coach Pizzo's Report - April 15

The Polar Bears competed in three regattas this weekend including the Central at Tufts, the Women's Team Race National Invitational, and the Owen Trophy.  At the Central Series hosted by Tufts, three races were completed in each division in a nice easterly breeze on Mystic Lake.  The Polar Bears finished 6th out of 17 teams overall.  Per Black, Eliza Jevon, Emmett Ulian, Eric Hall, Preston Anderson, and Kevin Elk competed for the Polar Bears.

Light breeze and dense fog limited racing down at the Owen Trophy hosted by Yale.  The team was working on transitioning to fleet racing with longer starting lines and much longer courses and sailed a decent event, finishing seventh of eighteen teams competing.  Christian Filter, Marie Bergsund, Matt Safford, Julia Adams, John Seider, and Elijah Berger competed for the Polar Bears.

Finally the Polar Bears competed in the second Women's National Team Race Invitational hosted by Brown University.  The Polar Bears struggled early on Saturday but developed some great boatspeed throughout the day and finished with a record of 6-6, qualifying for the top 8.  Sunday was a less successful day with the team struggling on the starting line and were chasing for most of the races.  The team finished eighth overall.  Kelsey Slack, Claire Havig, Ellie Maus, Teagan Cunningham, Caitlin Tardio, Isabelle Austin Green, Gigi Diserio, and Hannah Konkel competed for the Polar Bears.

This upcoming weekend, the team will compete at the Women's New England Qualifier for the Jerry Reed Trophy at MIT and will competed in the Admiral's Cup hosted by Kings Point.
