Coach Pizzo's Report - March 18

The Polar Bears just completed a week of training down south sailing on Biscayne Bay out of the Ransom Everglades School.  We had a tremendous week of sailing and we able to take advantage of the warm weather and great breeze with long days on the water.  The Polar Bears competed at the Rudkin Team Race at Eckerd College to start off the trip.  Nearly two rounds were completed in light to moderate sailing conditions.  The Polar Bears finished the regatta with an 11-3 record, finishing first overall.  Competing for the Polar Bears was Louisa Lindgren, Emily Gonzalez, Julia Adams, Marie Bergsund, Christian Filter, Matt Safford, Alden Grimes, and Matt Kaplan.

This past weekend, the Polar Bears returned to north to compete at the Southern New England Team Race hosted by Connecticut College.  Conditions were surprisingly warm.  Two round robins were completed.  The team showed great discipline and strong team work. We have plenty of work to do before our team race championship in three weekends but the team is making progress.  The team finished with a 14-4 record, finishing second overall.  Competing for Bowdoin was Alden Grimes, Elijah Berger, Matt Kaplan, Matt Safford, Louisa Lindgren, Christian Filter, Marie Bergsund, Julia Adams, and Emily Gonzalez.

This upcoming weekend the Polar Bears will compete in the Vietor Trophy at CGA, the Friis Trophy at Roger Williams, and the Eagle Team Race at Boston College.
