Coach Pizzo's Report - October 22

The Polar Bears competed in three regattas this weekend including the Showcase Finals at St. Mary's, the Oberg at MIT, and the Peak Foliage at UNH.  Unfortunately the Peak Foliage was cancelled because of too much wind.

The Oberg featured many of the top teams in NEISA and was sailed in three divisions.  Conditions were cold and windy all weekend.  Thirty nine races were completed at the regatta and the Polar Bears finished 6th overall.  Claire Havig '21, Hannah Konkel '20, Elijah Berger '21 sailed in A-division, Kelsey Slack '21, Caitlin Tardio '19, and Kevin Elk '20 sailed B-division, and Per Black '22, Isabelle Austin-Green '19, and Hannah Konkel '20 sailed in C-division.

The Showcase Finals at St. Mary's featured all the top teams in the country.  Conditions were light and shifty on Saturday and super breezy on Sunday.  The Polar Bears came on strong in the big breeze on Sunday and finished second overall which is a fantastic result.  Matt Kaplan '19, Louisa Lindgren '19, and Matt Safford '20 sailed A-division with Christian Filter '20, Julia Adams '21, Alden Grimes '21, and Louisa Lindgren '19 competed in B-division.

This upcoming weekend will conclude our fall competition season with the Schell Trophy at Dartmouth and the Urn Trophy at Bowdoin.
