Coach Pizzo's Report - September 17

The Polar Bears competed in three regattas this past weekend including the Nick Barnett Trophy, the Hatch Brown Trophy at MIT, and the Regis Trophy at Harvard.

Racing on the Charles River was limited all weekend due to a lack of wind.  There was only five races completed in each division at the Regis Trophy.  The Polar Bears finished seventh overall.  Kelsey Slack '21 and Isabelle Austin-Green '19 sailed A-division with Teagan Cunningham '22 and Caitlin Tardio '19 competed in B-division.  There was even less racing at the Hatch Brown Trophy which featured many of the top coed teams in NEISA.  Three races were completed on Sunday just prior to the 3 pm cutoff.  The Polar Bears were a bit up and down in the light conditions, finishing 10th overall.   Matt Kaplan '19 and Julia Adams '21 sailed A-division, Christian Filter '20 and Louisa Lindgren '19 sailed in B-division, and Matt Safford '20 and Hannah Konkel '20 competed in C-division.

The Barnett Trophy at Bowdoin was hosted in light and foggy conditions.  Despite the weather, 12 races were completed in both divisions.  The Polar Bears had two teams competing in the event with Bowdoin 1 coming from behind on Sunday to take the overall win.  The second Bowdoin team finished eighth overall.  Competing for Bowdoin this weekend was Alden Grimes '21, Alissa Chen '22, Fiona O'Carroll '22, Gigi Diserio '22, Rowan Byrne '21, Kevin Elk '20, Claire Havig '21, Sophia Schaefer '22, Ellie Maus '22, and Elijah Berger '22.
