Nordic Team Concludes Season at Regionals, Pair of Skiers Advance to Nationals

RUMFORD, Maine – The Bowdoin nordic team picked up a fourth place finish at the NCAA Regionals hosted by Bates at Black Mountain.

Sophomores Elliot Ketchel and Renae Anderson both earned spots in the NCAA Championships at UVM on March 6. The pair qualified for nationals in 2018 as well.

Carnival Highlights

  • Three Bowdoin women finished in the top-30 at Friday's 5K skate. Gabrielle Vandendries finished 18th, followed by Anderson (25th), and Lily Johnston (30th).
  • On the men's side, Ketchel turned in a sixth place finish in the 10K skate, closely followed by Christian Gostout in 15th. Sean Cork turned in a 20th place time.
  • In Saturday's classic, Anderson was the top NESCAC finisher in seventh, five seconds ahead of Middlebury's top athlete. Johnston and Vandendries finished 16th and 18th respectively.
  • Ketchel led the men in 16th place in the classic. Cork (26th), Gostout (31st), and Noah Eckstein (32nd) rounded out the team.
