2018 Recap: The Bowdoin nordic ski team enjoyed a record-breaking campaign in 2018, sending a school-record three skiiers to the NCAA Championship, all first-years. Elliott Ketchel, Gabrielle Vandendries and Renae Anderson each recorded some of the best finishes ever by Polar Bears in EISA (Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association) competition. Bowdoin recorded an outstanding sixth-place finish among nordic teams at the year-end NCAA Regional.
2019 Preview: The three first-years will anchor a squad that has high expectations heading into the new campaign. For the men's team, Elliot Ketchel is coming off two podium finishes and eight top-ten showings, including a third-place finish in the 10k classic at the NCAA Regional. Christian Fostout also posted an impressive campaign, carding six top-20 finishes for the Polar Bears. For the women, Gabrielle Vandendries took fourth at the Maine State Championship and peaked down the stretch to earn an NCAA bid while Renae Anderson's consistency was a hallmark of her 2018 season which also netted a trip to nationals. The Polar Bears open their season on January 12-13 at the St. Lawrence Carnival in Lake Placid and will set their sights on the year-end Bates Carnival at Black Mountain on February 22-23, which serves as this year's NCAA Eastern Regional Championship. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for the first week of March at the Trapp Lodge in Vermont.
