CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team closed out their California trip with a 8-1 victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thursday afternoon.
The Polar Bears return east as the third-ranked team in Division III, having won 66 of 81 matches on their nine-game trip to open the campaign.
- The Polar Bears swept singles play to cruise to the win over the 24th-ranked team in the nation.
- Bowdoin got doubles wins from Luke Tercek/Grant Urken (8-1) and Gil Roddy/Justin Patel (8-4) to carry a lead into singles action.
- Bowdoin won five straight-set singles matches, including wins from Tercek (6-1, 6-1), Kyle Wolfe (6-0, 6-1), Roddy (6-0, 6-1), Luke Carstens (6-2, 6-2) and Patel (6-2, 6-4). Urken rounded out the victors with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 win.
- The defending national champs will return to action on Friday the 31st when they host Brandeis at 2:00 p.m.
