Trinka and Tercek Earn All-American on Opening Day of NCAA Individuals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Bowdoin men's tennis doubles duo of Luke Tercek and Luke Trinka advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Individual Tournament on the opening day of action on Thursday.

Tercek also won a first-round singles match before falling in the second round of 16. Thanks to their first-round wins, both players earn automatic ITA All-American status.

Thursday Highlights

  • Tercek opened the day with an impressive 7-6(4), 6-0 opening round victory over Justin Ancona of Wheaton (Ill.)
  • In the afternoon, playing Rafe Mosetick of Emory for the second time in three days, Mosetick avenged a loss from the NCAA Team Semifinals with a 6-1, 6-2 win to eliminate Tercek
  • Trinka joined Tercek for the afternoon doubles opening round and the duo picked up a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 win over Michael Buxbaum/Jeremy Dubin of Johns Hopkins to advance to the national quarterfinals. The win proved to be a bounce back for the Polar Bears, who lost to the JHU duo in the NCAA Team Quarterfinals three days ago.
