Men's Tennis Nets NCAA Bid, Regional Hosting Rights For This Weekend

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship and will host a regional at Pickard Courts beginning on Friday.

Bowdoin has received a first-round bye and will play the winner of Friday's Colby-Sawyer vs. Nichols match in the second round on Saturday. Friday's other first round match will feature Stevens vs. Southern Maine with the winner advancing to Saturday against MIT. Saturday's winners will play on Sunday in the regional final.

The team advancing out of this weekend's regional will move on to the Kalamazoo, Michigan for this year's NCAA Division III Team Championship, May 23-25.

The Polar Bears (15-3) finished as runners-up in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament that concluded Sunday with a 5-1 loss to Middlebury. Two of Bowdoin's three losses have come at the hands of the Panthers this spring. The Polar Bears are ranked fourth in the latest ITA Division III poll.

Complete tournament information, including match times, will be announced on Tuesday.
