Men's Tennis Team Heads to Amherst For NCAA Play This Weekend

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team will return to the NCAA Tournament after a one-year absence on Saturday as they travel to compete in a regional hosted by Amherst College.

The Polar Bears (11-9) are ranked 16th nationally in the latest Division III ITA poll and will open play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against the winner of Friday's first round match between MIT and Nichols in Amherst.

The complete schedule of weekend matches is below. All matches are free admission and, if necessary, the indoor site will be the Grande Meadows Tennis Club on Saturday and the Hampshire Tennis Club on Sunday. There will be no live coverage of the matches from Amherst, but a recap will be posted on Bowdoin's website as soon as possible following the conclusion of play. WEEKEND SCHEDULE (all matches hosted by Amherst College)
1st Round - Friday, May 9
Stevens vs. Southern Maine - 12:00 p.m.
MIT vs. Nichols - 1:00 p.m.

2nd Round: Saturday, May 10
Amherst vs. Stevens/Southern Maine - 10:00 a.m.
Bowdoin vs. MIT/Nichols - 1:00 p.m.

3rd Round: Sunday, May 11
2nd Round Winners - 12:00 pm

The team advancing out of this weekend's regional will move on to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the host of this year's team championship finals, which will be held May 19-21 at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California.
