Bowdoin Closes Fall Campaign With Wins at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Bowdoin College men's tennis players Casey Grindon and Chris Lord led an impressive contingent at the Stony Brook University Invitational last weekend in New York. Lord claimed the B-Flight singles crown over Grindon, who teamed with Alex Jacobs to win the B-Flight doubles title.

Lord went 4-0 to win his bracket, including a trio of three-set battles. He won the title with an epic 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 victory over Grindon, who also claimed three wins in the B-Flight tournament. Grindon reached the finals with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 win over Max Sztabholz of Stony Brook in the semifinal round. Stephen Sullivan went 1-1 in the A-Flight singles bracket while Eric Chien, Michael Power and Peter Davis also claimed one win apiece in the C-Flight.

In doubles play, Grindon and Jacobs cruised to the B-Flight championship. The duo's closest match came in the finals against Middlebury's pairing of Schlabach and Parower. Bowdoin's team earned the 8-5 win to seal the title. Sullivan teamed with Samuel King in the A-Flight doubles bracket to win two matches and reach the semifinal round.
