BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College men's tennis players Sam Bitetti (Norwell, Mass.) and Garrett Gates (Fairway, Kansas) will play in the NCAA Division III Championship this weekend at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Both Bitetti and Gates earned bids to the Individual and Doubles tournaments as action opens on May 18 with brackets to be announced on May 16.
The pair also represented Bowdoin as First-Team All-NESCAC selections announced following the Conference Championship. Gates and Bitetti both earned First-Team Singles and Doubles honors.
Individually, the pair both enjoyed fantastic seasons. Bitetti finished the year with a 14-6 record, including an 8-3 mark at number-one singles in dual match play. The senior ended the year ranked sixth in the ITA Northeast Region. Gates collected a 12-2 individual mark, splitting time at number-one (5-1) and two (7-1) singles positions to finished with a number four ranking in the region. Together, the pair posted a 10-1 record in doubles play, all at the top of the ladder in dual matches, to finish the season with a number-two rank in the Northeast.
