Four Men's Swimmers Honored as All-Conference Performers in NESCAC Honors

BRUNSWICK, Maine - A quartet of Bowdoin College men's swimmers have been named All-Conference performers by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Seniors Nathan Mecray (Cumberland, Maine) and Mac Routh (Alexandria, Va.) were joined by junior E.J. Googins (Portland, Maine) and William Shi (San Diego, Calif.) as honorees. The top three finishers in each event at the 2012 NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championship received All-Conference recognition.

Routh was honored for his first-place win in the 50-yard butterfly and second-place finish in the 100 backstroke. Mecray was recognized for his runner-up performances in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Googins and Shi joined Routh and Mecray on Bowdoin's 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished third.

Bowdoin was fifth at the NESCAC Championship last weekend at Wesleyan, marking the program's highest finish in the 12-year history of the event.
