Men's Squash Finishes Third at Summers Cup Team Championship

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Bowdoin College men's squash team defeated Hamilton on Sunday, 8-1, to claim a third-place finish in the Summers Cup Division of the College Squash Association Team Championships.

The Polar Bears end the year ranked 19th in the nation and finish with a 13-14 record overall. Bowdoin picked up a 6-3 victory over Connecticut College in the opening round of the bracket before dropping a tough 5-4 decision to eventual Summers Cup champion George Washington in the semifinals. The Polar Bears bounced back in a resounding 8-1 win over Hamilton in the 3rd place match.

A trio of Polar Bears went unbeaten in weekend play, led by first-year Andrew Ward, who did not lose a single set in three 3-0 victories playing out of the number six position. Andrew Hilboldt was nearly as efficient, dropping just a single set in three wins at the number three spot for Bowdoin. Andrew Sprague made the most of his final collegiate tournament as the senior went unbeaten at the number eight spot in the ladder.

Stephan Danyluk (#2), Reid Wilson (#5) and Maxwell Bearse (#9) earned two wins apiece in tournament play for Bowdoin.
