Squash Teams Open New Year With Home Matches Against Nationally-Ranked Foes

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College squash teams went returned to action last weekend with matches against a trio of top-15 opponents.

The Polar Bears went winless, with the men dropping decisions to 10th-ranked Williams (9-0) and 15th-ranked Navy (9-0). The women earned a point but also fell to the ninth-ranked Williams team (8-1).

Sara Wlodarczyk earned the victory at #8 for the women's squad against the Ephs while first-years Torey Lee and Rachel Barnes fought well at the top two positions. Both players earned wins in the opening set before falling in eventual 3-1 setbacks.

Stephan Danyluk went the distance at #3 against Navy before dropping a 3-2 decision. Andrew Sprague pushed his opponent to the limit at #8 singles against Williams but suffered a 3-2 loss.

The Bowdoin men currently stand a 3-5 this season and are ranked 20th in the College Squash Association poll. The women's team is 3-3 and stands 19th in the latest rankings. Both teams will return to action next weekend with several matches at the Yale Round Robin, opening Friday against Hamilton.
