Squash Teams Dominate Home Invitational Weekend

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College squash teams enjoyed their best weekend of the 2010-11 campaign, going undefeated at a home round-robin at the Lubin Center. The men's team earned four-straight dominating wins while the women cruised to a pair of victories.

The Polar Bear men improved to 7-8 overall this season with wins over Boston College (9-0), Tufts (9-0), Denison (9-0) and Connecticut College (8-1). The women extended their season-best winning streak to three matches and improved to 5-11 overall after impressive wins against Tufts (8-1) and Connecticut College (9-0).

Five players on the men's team posted perfect 4-0 records over the weekend, led by Andy Bernard (#1), Stephan Danyluk (#2), Andrew Hilboldt (#3), William Fantini (#4) and Rahul Madan Mohan (#5/#6). Seven Polar Bears posted 2-0 weekends for the women, and four tallied perfect slates without a lost set. Lauren Gesswein (#1), Alex Peacock-Villada (#6), Michaela Martin (#7/#8) and Gretchen Williams (#8/#9) all carded a pair of 3-0 wins against the Jumbos and Camels.

Both teams will return to action next weekend when they play in the NESCAC Championship hosted by Trinity. Brackets and pairings will be announced later this week.
