BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's soccer team will be seeded third for the 2017 New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament that begins on Saturday against Williams at Pickard Field.
Kick-off is slated for 12:30 and the game will be carried live on the Northeast Sports Network.
Bowdoin (10-3-2, 6-2-2 NESCAC) is the No. 3 seed for the first time since 2004 and will host a quarterfinal match for the first time since 2010. The Polar Bears posted a 6-1-2 mark over the final nine games of the regular season and did not allow a goal in their final three contests. Bowdoin is seeking its third title after winning the NESCAC Championship in back-to-back years (2014, 2015), and will face No. 6 Williams (8-3-4, 3-3-4 NESCAC).
The Ephs have qualified for the NESCAC Championship every season, but are the sixth seed for the first time in program history. Williams, which owns six titles, has displayed a stingy defense, allowing just nine goals this season. The Ephs will try to keep Bowdoin off the board as they look to move on to the semifinals for the first time since 2013. Bowdoin came away with a 1-0 victory on its home turf in the regular-season matchup, but the Ephs own a 3-1-0 advantage in the postseason series. The teams last met in the 2014 quarterfinals when the Polar Bears posted a 2-1 win.
The winner of Saturday's match advances to the NESCAC Semifinals next weekend to be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
