WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Daniel Morrisroe scored the game-winning goal with 7:50 remaining in regulation to give the Williams College men's soccer team a late 1-0 win over Bowdoin on Sunday afternoon.

Williams climbed to 3-1-1 (3-1-1 NESCAC) on the season with the victory, while Bowdoin fell to 3-2-1 (0-2-1 NESCAC).

The Polar Bears started out the game in control of possession, but the Ephs came up with the first real opportunity in the 8th minute. Matt Kastner and Matt Muralles ran a give and go in the midfield, leading Kastner into the right corner. Kastner served the ball in to the center of the box, where Dan Lima lofted a volley that Bowdoin keeper Will Wise made an excellent stop on to keep the game scoreless. Bowdoin's best chance came late in the period when a bouncing ball in the box off a corner kick opportunity went unfinished.

After Wise made another excellent save in the 81st minute, Williams was able to finally beat him three minutes later when Nick Pugliese picked a loose ball 35 yards out in the middle of the field. Pugilese played the ball to Morrisroe, who stood open in the middle of the field. Morrisroe popped the ball over an onrushing Wise and into the back of the net to give the Ephs a 1-0 lead.

Peter Morrell made one stop in net for Williams while Wise was credited with two saves for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin will return to action next Saturday, October 1 at Connecticut College.
