Nationally-Ranked Endicott Men's Lacrosse Defeats Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Endicott College men's lacrosse team held Bowdoin scoreless for the first 54 minutes on its way to a 16-3 win on Saturday at Howard Ryan Field.

The Gulls, ranked 11th in the latest Division III poll, improve to 8-2 with the victory. Bowdoin falls to 1-9 with the setback.

Harrison Cotter and Nick Pinciaro led the way for the Gulls with four goal apiece as Will Jennings also netted three for the visitors. Brandon Lee scored twice in the final six minutes to lead the Bowdoin scorers.

The Gulls opened up a 3-0 lead after the opening quarter but took command of the game with a six-goal outburst in the second period. Jennings and Pinciaro scored twice in the frame as Endicott took a 9-0 lead into the break. The Gulls continued to pour it on in the third quarter, scoring five more times, including two from Cotter before Bowdoin finally found the back of the net courtesy of Brandon Rothman with six minutes to go.

Cameron Bell stopped nine of the 11 shots he faced in goal for Endicott, who held a 35-26 advantage in shots for the game. Kenny Sturgess made two saves and allowed a goal over the final 4:54 in net for the Gulls. Bowdoin's Peter Mumford made seven saves in the loss.

Tommy Hughes dominated the faceoff dot for Endicott, winning 16 of 22 and scooping a team-high eight ground balls. Defensively, Ian Knechtle had two caused turnovers and four ground balls for Endicott. Bowdoin's Mac Caputi finished with a team-best eight ground balls and two caused turnovers while Billy Valle had three caused turnovers for the Polar Bears.

Bowdoin will return to action on Tuesday evening at Babson (7:00 p.m.) while Endicott will travel to the University of New England on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).
