    BRUNSWICK, Maine - Jeff Pellegrini has been named assistant coach of the Bowdoin College men's ice hockey team. Pellegrini, a former assistant at UMass Boston, assumes the duties formerly held by Bill Riley, who accepted a head coaching position at the Groton School.

Watson Arena, dedicated January 18, 2009, has become the first newly constructed ice arena in the United States to earn coveted LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The USGBC certified the ice arena's LEED status July 16, 2009.

    BRUNSWICK, Maine - Crews have begun the demolition of Dayton Arena. Once it has been taken down, a temporary parking area for faculty and staff will be constructed at the site. The home of the Bowdoin ice hockey programs from 1956-2008, Dayton Arena gave way to the state-of-the art Sidney J. Watson Arena that was completed in January 2009.

The Polar Bears finish the year with a record of 11-11-2 (8-9-2 NESCAC) and will play at Williams in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament that begins on Saturday, February 28.
