BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College senior Jack Simonds (Falmouth, Maine) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference and Maine Men's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week.
Simonds averaged 27.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Polar Bears split against Bates and Tufts last weekend. Simonds equaled his career high with a 35-point effort against Bates on Friday, leading the Polar Bears to a win thanks to a 15-for-20 shooting performance from the field. For the week, Simonds shot 66.7 percent from the field.
The senior from Falmouth High School has established himself as one of the premier scorers in school history in his four years at Bowdoin. He is averaging a career-best 19.1 points per game through 12 contests this season and has racked up exactly 1400 points through 82 career games, making him just the eighth player in school history to reach the plateau.
The Polar Bears scheduled game for Tuesday at Maine Maritime was canceled due to weather. Bowdoin will return to action with a NESCAC contest at Trinity on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
