BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin junior Lucas Hausman (Westport, Conn.) has been named the Division III Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Also named the NESCAC Player of the Week the last two weeks, Hausman is the first Bowdoin men's basketball player to collect the USBWA's honor.

Hausman averaged 30.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to lead Bowdoin to a 2-0 week and the second-seed (highest finish in program history) in the upcoming New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament. He shot 68.4 percent (26-of-38) from the field, 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from three-point range and 80 percent (4-of-5) from the foul line.

On Friday, in a 98-70 win over Bates, Hausman tied the Polar Bears' school record with 44 points on 20-of-25 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from three-point range while adding four rebounds and four assists. His 20 made field goals were also a program record. Hausman followed that up with a game-best 16 points (6-of-13 FG, 4-of-4 FT) in a 57-54 victory against Tufts University on Saturday. He added seven rebounds and a steal for Bowdoin in the victory.

The Polar Bears (17-8) will return to action on Saturday when they host Williams at 2:00 p.m. in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game at Morrell Gymnasium.
