Bowdoin Tennis Teams Earn At-Large Bids to NCAA Tournament

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's tennis teams both earned bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament in selections announced on Monday.

The Polar Bear women (14-6), ranked seventh in the ITA Division III rankings, have earned a first-round bye and will host a regional at Pickard Courts this weekend. Bowdoin will play host to the six-team regional and will play the winner of Friday's first-round match between Wilkes (18-2) and Bridgewater State (16-1). Middlebury (10-7) has also earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of Friday's match between Colby-Sawyer (11-8) and The College of New Jersey (11-6). The winners of Saturday's second round matches will play in the regional final on Sunday.

Match times will be announced on Tuesday. The rain site will be the Foreside Tennis Club in Falmouth for all three days of competition.

The Bowdoin men (11-9), ranked 16th in the latest Division III poll, have also earned a first-round bye and will compete in a regional hosted by Amherst College this coming weekend. The Polar Bears will play Saturday against the winner of Friday's first round match between MIT (13-5) and Nichols (21-1). NESCAC Champion Amherst (31-3) will play the winner of Stevens (13-11) and Southern Maine (14-3) on Saturday. Saturday's second round winners will play in the regional final on Sunday.

Match times for the men's tournament will also be announced on Tuesday.
