Field Hockey Nets Sixth Seed, Faces Williams in NESCAC Quarters

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College field hockey team finished in a tie for fourth place, but will be the sixth seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament which begins this weekend.   

The Polar Bears finished in a tie with Trinity and Hamilton with identical 6-4 records but due to tiebreaker procedures, dipped to the sixth seed and will head to play at third-seeded Williams at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. The game will be carried live on the Northeast Sports Network.

Bowdoin (11-4, 6-4) has won eight NESCAC titles, its last coming in 2015. The Polar Bears enter the tournament having scored 54 goals, the second most in the league this season. In all, Bowdoin and Williams have met seven times in the NESCAC Championship, with the Polar Bears owning a 4-3 edge over the Ephs. The two teams last met in the 2012 quarterfinals, with Bowdoin posting a 3-0 victory. When the two teams met this year, on October 14, Williams defeated Bowdoin in penalty strokes, 4-3.
