Mettler Growney Named NFHCA, NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin senior Mettler Growney (New Canaan, Conn.) has been named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Offensive Player of the Week and the New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week.

Growney scored four goals in three Polar Bear wins last week, including the game-winning score with 1:47 remaining against Trinity on Saturday. Growney also had a hat trick in a  Monday win against Southern Maine and an assist on the game's first goal against Maine-Farmington in a Wednesday victory.

The stellar midfielder has enjoyed a phenomenal career at Bowdoin, starting every game over the last three seasons and playing in 71 career contests. She has tallied 13 career goals, with five coming as game-winning tallies. She also has recorded 13 career assists.

The Polar Bears will be back in action with a pair of games this weekend, at Hamilton on Saturday and at Williams on Sunday.
