Eggerling joined Bowdoin in the summer of 2016 after eight years at Saint Anselm, where he was most recently the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. He coaches the safeties for the Polar Bears. He enjoys a decorated coaching career that saw him named the Division II Assistant Coach of the Year by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston in 2014. From 2008-2012, his defensive units were consistently nationally-ranked in total takeaways, creating 112 turnovers during that stretch. His prior coaching experience includes a stint at Hartwick, where he was the team's defensive coordinator in 2007 when the team won the Empire 8 and was ranked 19th nationally in interceptions, as well as UNH and St. Lawrence. Eggerling was a four-year letterwinner in football at Southern Connecticut State University where he earned his bachelor degree in exercise science in 2001. A native of Syracuse, N.Y., attended Central Square High School, before attending Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine. Eggerling graduated with his master's degree from Saint Lawrence University in 2003.
