Grant and Sisti Honored by NESCAC as Football Players of the Week

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin sophomore running back Tyler Grant (Stratham, N.H.) and first-year kicker Andrew Sisti (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) have been honored as Players of the Week by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

The duo received the honor on the heels of Bowdoin's first win of the season, a 33-20 victory over Tufts on Saturday. Grant was recognized as the league's Offensive Player of the Week while Sisti collected Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Grant rushed for a career-high 208 yards on a school-record 43 carries with four touchdowns against the Jumbos. Grant became the first Bowdoin running back to surpass 200 yards in a game since 2004 (Rob Patchett) and the first Polar Bear to rush for four touchdowns since 1992 (Eric LaPlaca) in the victory. He sparked a Bowdoin offense that accumulated 463 yards of total offense, its most since 2009.

Sisti booted a pair of second-half field goals to give the Polar Bears the lead for good against Tufts. Tied at 20-20 late in the third quarter, Sisti kicked a 30-yard field goal to give Bowdoin the lead. Then, in the fourth quarter, he connected from 34 yards to push Bowdoin's lead to six points. He also averaged 57.4 yards on his kickoffs, including a touchback, and made a touchdown-saving tackle following a kickoff in the second quarter.

The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday as they travel to play at Hamilton at noon.
