Lamont White Named Player of Week

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior cornerback Lamont White (Boston, Mass.) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week by the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Thanks to White and a Polar Bear defense that forced eight Williams turnovers in a historic 28-14 victory.

White was outstanding in Bowdoin's second-half performance against Williams on Saturday. The Polar Bears forced eight second-half turnovers and White was responsible for three of them; collecting a fumble and two interceptions. White returned his second pick, with Bowdoin holding a one-touchdown lead with four minutes remaining, all the way for a touchdown, giving the Polar Bears a 28-14 lead they would never relinquish. In addition, the Roxbury Latin graduate had five tackles and two pass break-ups to his credit.

Saturday's victory snapped Williams' 14-game winning streak and gave Bowdoin their first victory over the Ephs since 1979. It was the third-straight win overall for the Polar Bears, who will travel to play Amherst next weekend.
