BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the second time this season Bowdoin senior Henry Van Zant (Westport, Conn.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Van Zant became the first pitcher to shut out Wesleyan this season, tossing a complete game 1-0 victory on Saturday. In a pitchers' duel, the senior hurler induced Cardinal hitters into three double plays over the course of the seven-inning game, which was scoreless through the first six innings. Van Zant scattered eight hits while striking out four and walking one in the win that dropped his ERA to 1.32 on the season.

In six starts, Van Zant boasts a 4-1 record with two complete games, allowing just five earned runs all season over the course of 34.0 innings. He has struck out 30 batters and walked just five.

Bowdoin will be back in action with non-conference games on Monday and Tuesday. The Polar Bears will play a make-up game at St. Joseph's for a 6:45 p.m. first pitch on Monday night before heading to Bangor for a doubleheader at Husson at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
