Men's Tennis Completes Perfect Spring Break Trip With Dominant Win Over Stevens

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bowdoin College men's tennis team completed its first perfect spring break trip since 2000 with a 8-1 win over Stevens on Thursday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (6-0) went unbeaten on spring break for the first time since 2000, when they went 6-0 in Hilton Head, S.C. Bowdoin is ranked 11th in the latest ITA national poll (March 17) but will undoubtedly leap in the next release of the rankings following wins over five ranked teams on the trip, including a 7-2 win over #2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on March 20.

Match Highlights

  •  Against the 25th-ranked Ducks, Bowdoin continued their hot doubles play, getting a sweep to take a 3-0 advantage
  • Kyle Wolfe/Jerry Jiang captured a 8-2 win at #2 while Chase Savage/Gil Roddy took an 8-3 win at #3
  • Luke Trinka/Luke Tercek completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at the top spot, giving Bowdoin a commanding edge heading into singles
  • Bowdoin earned four quick straight-set wins in singles to put the match on ice
  • Trinka (6-3, 6-2), Jiang (6-0, 6-0), Roddy (6-3, 6-1) and Grant Urken (6-1, 6-2) clinched the win for the Polar Bears
  • Wolfe earned a hard-fought win at #3 singles, capturing a 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 decision
