Season Preview: Cross Country Teams Open Season Saturday

Head Coach: Peter Slovenski
Women's Captains: Martha Boben, Julia O'Rourke
Men's Captains: Sean MacDonald, Connor Rockett, Naphtali Moulton

2017 Recap: The Polar Bears started their 2017 campaigns successfully as the teams swept the two season-opening Bowdoin Invitationals in September. The squads both took second place respectively in the Maine State Championship meets in October before the women took sixth and men placed seventh at the NESCAC Championship hosted at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. The Polar Bear men vaulted up the ladder at the New England Division III Championship, taking ninth overall in the 55-team field as the women raced to 12th overall.

2018 Preview: Both teams return a wealth of talent which should make for an exciting fall for the Polar Bears. A quartet of seniors, led by All-New England performer Sean MacDonald should pace the Bowdoin men, along with co-captains Naphtali Moulton, and Connor Rockett as well as classmate Andrew McGowan. For the women, senior Julia O'Rourke is looking to return from injury to break into the group and will co-captain the squad with Martha Boben. Returners Abby Osmanski and Erin Hollenbaugh have looked strong in September training, as has first-year Delaney Bullock, who will look to make a splash on behalf of the Polar Bear rookie class this autumn.

2018 Schedule: The Polar Bears will host three events this fall, culminating with the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship scheduled for Saturday, November 10 at the Pickard Field Cross Country Course. Bowdoin will open their season at home this weekend as they host the Maine State Invitational (Sep. 29) and will be back home for the Bowdoin Invitational (Oct. 13) next month. The NESCAC Championship is scheduled for October 27 at Tufts.

Follow Online: Fans can follow the team on the free Bowdoin Front Row app, available on the App Store for Apple users and Google Play for Android users as well as on social media channels: @bowdointfxc on Twitter as well as on Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, the November 10 NCAA Regional Championship will be the first-ever cross-country webcast at Bowdoin, carried live on the Northeast Sports Network.
