Polar Bears Compete Well at NCAA Championship

WINNECONNE, Wis. – Bowdoin senior Sean MacDonald earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship on Saturday afternoon.

MacDonald took 39th overall to earn All-American recognition, leading a contingent of Polar Bears that included a pair of finishers in the women's race- Julia O'Rourke and Delaney Bullock.

In cool and breezy conditions, MacDonald spent the first three miles in a tight bunch of runners. In 42nd place with 800 meters to go, he made a late kick to pass three runners to finish in the top-40, earning All-American honors in a time of 24:59.2.

In the women's race, O'Rourke finished 117th and Bullock finished 135th in the 279-runner field. O'Rourke and Bullock ran together for 4000 meters hovering between 80th place and 140. Both O'Rourke (22:40.9) and Bullock (22:49.6) ran personal best times in the championship race.
