Polar Bear Men's and Women's Cross Country Compete at NESCAC Meet

WATERFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin men placed fourth while the women took ninth at the 2013 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship Saturday at Harkness State Park in Connecticut.

In the 11-team fields, the Bowdoin men finished with 114 team points to finish behind only Williams (51), Middlebury (62) and Tufts (103). The Bowdoin women finished with 235 points overall.

Among individual finishers, reigning NESCAC Men's Champion Coby Horowitz finished third in this year's 8K race in a time of 24:51.4. Lucy Skinner was the top finisher for Bowdoin in the women's 6K race, taking 23rd in 22:30.

Other top finishers for the Bowdoin men included Sam Seekins (15th, 25:27), Nick Saba (29th, 25:41), James Boeding (33rd, 25:45) and Kevin Hoose (34th, 25:47). On the women's side, the Polar Bears had Madelena Rizzo (32nd, 22:50), Ally Fulton (58th, 24:14), Caroline Sun (60th, 24:17) and Brenna Fischer (62nd, 24:21).

Both teams will return to action next weekend at the New England Division III Championships hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
