Cross Country Teams Post Strong Showings at Pre-National Race in Indiana

HANOVER, Ind. - Members of the Bowdoin College cross country teams traveled to Indiana to compete in Hanover's Pre-National Championship Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Competing at the site of the NCAA Division III Championships scheduled for later this fall, the Bowdoin women garnered an 11th-place finish in an 18-team field, while the men's team ran only four runners and did not compile a team score, but were led by a second-place finish from Coby Horowitz.

Lucy Skinner paced the Polar Bear women with another solid performance to begin the campaign. Skinner posted a time of 23:03.12 to earn the best finish for the Bowdoin women. Madelena Rizzo took 25th in 23:25.55 while Brenna Fischer was 83rd in a time of 24:54.69.

Horowitz took a runner-up finish to Michael Leduc of Connecticut College, as he posted a time of 25:30.54, eight seconds off the winning pace. Nicholas Saba had an excellent showing as well, taking sixth individually in 25:52.80. James Boeding also took a top-20 finish, earning 20th place in 26:38.82 while Kevin Hoose earned 29th in 26:54.35.

Bowdoin will return to regional action next weekend as they compete at the Open New England Championship in Boston.
