BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College senior libero Lisa Sheldon (Venice, Calif.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week in selections announced by the conference following the league championship last weekend.
Sheldon helped lead the Polar Bears win their third NESCAC Championship with stellar defensive play last weekend. In three matches, Sheldon averaged 6.00 digs per set, including 29 in both the semifinal win over No. 5 Tufts and the title match against No. 3 Amherst. She leads the conference with 557 digs, and with 72 in three matches over the weekend, she became the fourth player in school history to surpass 1,500 digs in a career (1,568).
Also on Tuesday, Bowdoin learned its match time for Friday's NCAA Division III Tournament First Round match against Worcester State. The Polar Bears will face the Lancers at 12:30 on the campus of Babson College. The winner will play in a second round match scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Sunday's regional final is scheduled for 2:00 p.m
